Shipping & returns

This site (thenewpress.perseusbooks.com) is hosted and managed by Two Rivers Distribution, a division of Ingram Publisher Services, on behalf of The New Press (online bookstore client). The following is our general delivery and return policy. Please check the online bookstore client site for published amendments before purchasing your product.

Service Standard: All orders require one to two business days to process before shipping. Business Days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays determined by common and other freight carriers.

Ordering and Shipping Confirmation: Upon successfully submitting your order, you will immediately see a thank you page containing your order number and order details, which you should print for your records. After ordering, you will also receive an email confirmation from this site containing your order details. We will normally confirm receipt of your order within an hour of ordering. We will also email you when your order has shipped and provide you with your order tracking information where possible.

Shipping Methods: This site provides a variety of shipping methods determined by the online bookstore client. Standard shipping methods supported are provided by these carriers:

  • UPS (domestic and international except for Canada)
  • USPS (domestic)
  • Purolator (Canada)

Please note that USPS shipments are neither trackable nor traceable. We cannot and do not guarantee delivery of items shipped via USPS. Please allow up to 3-5 weeks for delivery of shipments via USPS.

Payment Options: We accept American Express, MasterCard, Discover Card and VISA credit cards. We do not accept cash, checks, money orders or CODs for orders placed online, or via telephone.

Sales Tax and Other Charges: This site supports the collection and remittance of Sales Tax for all US states. The application of sales tax to your order is determined by the rules governing the specific online bookstore client whose product you are purchasing and the state to which the order will be shipped. Please check your sales tax charges at checkout.

Please note that Customers outside the United States shall be responsible for the payment of any import taxes, duties, tariffs or similar charges which may be imposed over and above ordinary shipping charges.

Telephone: We encourage you to order online for the fastest possible service. If you choose to order by telephone, in order to help expedite the process, please browse the online store, collect your product codes, and have your credit card ready before placing your call.

Backorders: This site supports backorder processing. Your ability to place a backorder for out of stock product is determined by the policy of the online bookstore client. Please note that your credit card will only be charged when items you have ordered are released for shipping (shipping charges are charged for the entire order on the first shipment).

Credit Rejection: Because we do not charge your credit card until your order is released for shipment, it is possible that the charge may be rejected. In this event, we will send you an email notifying you of this occurrence and cancel the related order lines (in the case of backorders, your card may be charged at different times as products come into stock).

Returns: If you are dissatisfied with any product you purchase through this site, or your shipment is damaged, and you would like to return it, we will refund the purchase amount on the credit card used for the purchase.

1. Simply repack the item(s) in its original packaging (if possible); be sure to include the packing slip, as this contains the information we will need to identify the order and issue a credit to the correct credit card. IF YOU DO NOT INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL OR A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL PACKING SLIP, NO CREDIT WILL BE ISSUED!

2. Contact us by calling 1-800-343-4499 or 1-731-988-4440 for further shipping instructions. We may issue an RMA (Returned Merchandise Authorization) or a UPS Call Tag.

3. Include the original packing slip in the shipment and return to the following return shipping address:
